How to become a supplier of Lidl and Aldi? These four points are crucial!

Lidl and Aldi, as giants in the European retail industry, are known for their strict supplier screening standards. As a supplier that has been cooperating with Hangzhou Good Industry Co., Ltd. for many years, we have summarized four points:

1、 Excellent product quality and innovation capability

Product quality is the cornerstone. Lidl and Aldi have extremely strict quality control over the products they sell. Suppliers must establish a sound quality management system, from raw material procurement, production and processing to finished product inspection, and every link must meet or even exceed industry standards. Warehouse facilities must have Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification. Ensure material safety, durability, and compliance with relevant environmental and safety standards for the product.

Innovation ability is equally important. These two retail giants are constantly seeking innovative and unique products to attract consumers. As a supplier, it is necessary to conduct product research and development, pay attention to market trends and changes in consumer demand, and launch several innovative products every year, such as new functional household tools and stylish storage products, to provide retailers with differentiated competitive advantages.

This is also something that Hangzhou Good Industry Co., Ltd. has been persistently doing

2、 Efficient cost control and large-scale supply capability

Lidl and Aldi have established themselves in the market with a low price strategy, which requires suppliers to have excellent cost control capabilities. By optimizing production processes, scaling up raw material procurement, and improving production efficiency, we aim to reduce production costs and provide retailers with competitive prices. For example, suppliers can purchase raw materials in large quantities and obtain more favorable prices, thereby reducing product costs.

At the same time, it is necessary to have a large-scale supply capability. Lidl and Aldi have numerous stores and often have large order volumes. After Lidl determines a product, the order quantity for a batch is generally not less than 50000 pieces. Suppliers should have sufficient production equipment, human resources, and warehousing space to ensure timely, high-quality, and quantity completion of large order deliveries, meeting the needs of retailers for rapid replenishment and market expansion.

3、 Strict adherence to social responsibility and environmental standards

In terms of social responsibility, Lidl and Aldi require suppliers to comply with relevant international standards. They are members of the Business Social Responsibility Initiative (BSCI), and supplier factories are required to undergo BSCI audits derived from the SA8000 standard. Strictly prohibit the use of child labor and forced labor, ensure reasonable working hours for employees (weekly working hours ≤ 60 hours), and provide a safe and healthy working environment.

Environmental standards cannot be ignored either. Lidl recognizes various environmental assessment reports or certificates, such as the Amfori BEPI Environmental Assessment Report (with a minimum overall assessment result of level 1), the Higg Factory Environmental Assessment Report (with a minimum score of 25 for each section), ISO 14001 certificate, etc. Suppliers need to reduce pollution emissions during the production process and use environmentally friendly packaging materials
